She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science and a Minor in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1995. She then attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she graduated first in her class in 1999. After completing an Internal Medicine internship, she pursued a Dermatology residency, serving as Chief Resident in her final year.
